Pre-Shipment Inspection Log

Every unit goes through a 128-point inspection. Below are twelve checks that matter most for a used dump truck, with the pass standard we apply. A truck does not get loaded if any item fails.

  1. Engine cold start. Starts within 5 seconds from cold. After warm-up, the exhaust shows no blue or white smoke.
  2. Compression. Cylinder-to-cylinder variation within 10 percent. A weak cylinder points to future overhaul cost.
  3. Transmission (HW19710). Shifts through all 10 forward and 2 reverse gears without grinding. Oil level at the dipstick mark.
  4. Clutch. Free play 20 to 30 mm. No slip under a loaded road test.
  5. Differentials. AC16 ratio confirmed at 5.45. No whine at speed. Oil drained and checked for metal.
  6. Brake air system. System builds 8 bar. Leak-down not more than 0.2 bar over 30 minutes. Parking brake holds on a 15 percent slope.
  7. Steering. Free play not more than 15 degrees at the rim. ZF8098 box checked for leaks.
  8. Tipper hydraulics. Body holds raised for 30 minutes with no more than 5 mm drop. No seepage at the ram seals.
  9. Chassis and subframe. No cracks at welds. Cross-members straight. Surface rust treated and painted.
  10. Tyres. Tread depth at least 8 mm on the drive axles. Week code readable. Matched pairs per axle.
  11. Cab and electrics. All lights work. A/C vent temperature 8 to 12 degrees C below ambient. Cab tilt works.
  12. Identification. VIN on the frame, the plate and the documents all match. Odometer and hour meter recorded.

Checks Specific to Nigeria

Coastal Nigeria is hot and humid, and the work site sees a long rainy season. Weather shapes the prep list.

  • Brake air. Humid air pushes water into the air tanks and corrodes valves. We drain the tanks and check the air drier cartridge.
  • Dump body. Standing water rusts the floor. We treat surface rust, check the drain points and confirm the body empties clean.
  • Cooling and A/C. Radiator cleaned, fan and belts checked, A/C serviced. Ambient heat in Lagos sits above 30 degrees C for much of the year.
  • Electrical plugs. We grease and seal connectors against rain and wash-water.
  • Tyres. For wet-season mud, the buyer chose a tread pattern suited to soft ground.

From Our Yard to the Port

The trucks were driven from the yard to Qingdao Port. The inland leg is about 460 km. They departed on Aug 30, 2026.

We handle the factory-to-port leg and the export clearance. At the port, the units pass to the buyer’s forwarder for the sea leg to Apapa, Lagos. Qingdao Port is our usual Shandong departure point. The buyer should confirm the exact port with us before the booking is made.

Questions Buyers Ask

Can I see the truck on video before I pay?

Yes. We record or stream a walkaround, a cold start, and a tipper raise and lower.

Can a third party inspect it?

Yes. You can appoint a local inspection company or send your own agent to the yard.

How do payments work?

A deposit confirms the order. The balance is settled before shipment or against a scanned B/L, as agreed in the contract.

Who clears customs at Apapa?

Your clearing agent. We supply the documents ahead of vessel departure so clearance does not stall.

What does a truck like this cost?

Units in this configuration were sold at around USD 16,000 each, FOB Qingdao. Most HOWO 6×4 dump trucks in this condition land between USD 12,000 and 22,000, depending on year, tyres and body condition. Send us the specs you need and we quote to match.
